How to Apply for a Grant:
1859 Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that makes grants to help striving young people overcome challenges associated with extreme poverty, violence, trauma and homelessness.
When reviewing grant applications, 1859 Foundation is looking for applicants who:
Have confronted extreme obstacles, typically arising from or related to extreme poverty or from growing up in an under-resourced community;
Have a history of hard work demonstrating commitment and likely ability to overcome these serious obstacles;
Have a vision for their future with specific, articulated goals;
Would receive an impactful benefit from the grant towards helping the grantee advance his or her goals; and
Make a compelling commitment to give back (to 1859 and to others who face similar challenges) sometime in the future, when able.
